RUCelebrating Our 200th Adult Bone Marrow Transplant
The Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Center at Biruni University Medical Faculty Hospital has reached a major milestone by successfully performing its 200th bone marrow transplant. The achievement was celebrated with a cake cutting ceremony attended by hospital leadership, physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff.
Prof. Ali Hakan Kaya, who played a key role in performing the hospital's 200th adult bone marrow transplant, emphasized that this achievement was the result of a multidisciplinary team effort. "Bone marrow transplantation is a long and demanding process that extends far beyond the day of the transplant itself. It requires meticulous care from the patient's preparation through close follow up after the procedure. Reaching our 200th transplant is a great source of pride and happiness for us. This milestone reflects the dedication of a large team, from our physicians and nurses to our laboratory staff and support services," he said.

Prof. Rafet Eren emphasized that every transplant represents a new source of hope, stating, "For us, every transplant is much more than a number. It is a meaningful step that touches our patients' lives and opens a new chapter in their treatment journey. As we celebrate our 200th transplant, we aim to bring hope to even more patients by combining the experience we have gained with our strong teamwork and patient centered approach. We believe that the CAR T Cell Therapy Center planned for the coming period will be a significant milestone both for our institution and for the professional development of our physicians. By expanding our capabilities in advanced treatment applications, this center will further strengthen the Biruni brand."
The event marking the 200th transplant was attended by Biruni University Hospital General Manager Serap Kilerci Ulusal, Medical Director Prof. Mustafa Yaman, Chief Physician Dr. Abdullah Sert, Deputy General Manager Eser Şahin Foto, Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Center physicians Prof. Ali Hakan Kaya and Prof. Rafet Eren, as well as department nurses and hospital administrators.
The program concluded with the cutting of a commemorative cake prepared in honor of the 200th bone marrow transplant, followed by a group photograph.
